Provisions for Humanity was founded on the following principles:

Principle I — Dignity

Recognizing the dignity of every person begins with seeing the individual—not the circumstance, diagnosis, label, or statistic. Every person possesses inherent worth. That worth is not earned through success, wealth, education, or status, nor is it diminished by hardship, failure, or adversity. Because we recognize the inherent dignity of every person, we strive to treat all people with respect, compassion, fairness, and without judgment.

Principle II — Value

Every person possesses unique gifts, talents, and abilities that have value and deserve the opportunity to be recognized, developed, and shared. Every individual has unique contributions to share. Those contributions differ from person to person, and each has the potential to enrich lives, strengthen communities, and affirm our shared humanity.

Principle III — Agency

Respecting dignity demands respecting agency. Every person deserves the opportunity to make meaningful choices about their own life and future. Our role is to support each person's ability to determine it for themselves.

Principle IV — Partnership

Partnership begins by listening before leading. Lasting change is built with people, not for them. We walk alongside our partners with respect, humility, and a commitment to learning from one another.

Principle V — Stewardship

We steward all that is entrusted to us with wisdom, integrity, and care. Our partners entrust us with their stories, vulnerabilities, dignity, and confidence. Our volunteers entrust us with their time and talents, expecting that their efforts will always be directed toward meeting genuine needs in accordance with our mission and principles. Our donors entrust us with resources and the expectation that we will use them wisely and in accordance with our principles. We honor what has been entrusted to us by protecting those we serve, representing every person with dignity, and remaining accountable in all we do.

Principle VI — Empowerment

True empowerment comes from within. Our role is to help create the opportunities, relationships, and support that enable people to shape their own lives and futures. Lasting empowerment strengthens individuals, families, and communities by building on the gifts, choices, and aspirations that already exist within them.

Principle VII — Growth

Growth is a lifelong journey. Growth occurs through learning, experience, reflection, and meaningful relationships. Personal, intellectual, and community growth strengthens individuals, families, communities, and ultimately society.

Principle VIII — Hope

Hope grows where people are treated with dignity, empowered to make meaningful choices, and supported in their continued growth. Hope is sustained through meaningful relationships, shared responsibility, and the courage to take small actions that build a better tomorrow. Our role is to cultivate the relationships, opportunities, and support through which hope can take root and flourish.
